Airport transfer
You will be met at the airport upon arrival and taken to your overnight residence. You will be able to relax and get over any potential jet-lag for 2 days, with optional local tours being provided should you wish. Upon completion of the tour, we will also arrange for you to be transported back to the airport for departure.
Accommodation
You'll be staying at some of the top hotels and guesthouses South Africa has to offer. However, venues have been chosen, not just for luxury and comfort, but to throw in some historical or novelty value. We've worked hard to make certain that you, our customer, have the best possible experience while on tour with us, and our choice in accommodation is no exception. After a long day in the saddle there is nothing better than a long soak in the hot tub or a 'sun-downer' under the African sky.
Catering
South Africa is well known and respected for its excellent cuisine and eateries. You can expect a scrumptious breakfast and delicious dinner per day except when otherwise indicated in the daily tour description (e.g. breakfast not included on day of arrival and dinner not included on day of departure). Please also note that drinks are not included in the tour price.
The Motorcycles
Our business model is based on return business through customer satisfaction. Therefore, we wouldn't dream about sending you out on long distance tours on a vehicle which could potentially leave you (and us!) in the lurch. We are able to offer you choices ranging from a Harley-Davidson ® 1200 Sportster (popular with the ladies due to its smaller build) through the Dyna Super Glide range up to a Road-King.
The machines are in 'mint' condition. Our motorcycles are generally only used for one season and then replaced with the newest models available. We pride ourselves on the condition of our motorcycles. They are regularly serviced by our own Harley-Davidson trained mechanic, and parts like tyres are replaced habitually.
Unlimited mileage
All our tours include unlimited mileage, there are no additional charges at the end of your trip.
Insurances
Collision damage waiver and theft protection insurance are included in the price. Please note!
Miscellaneous travel expenses
Entry fees into parks and mentioned in the tour description are covered in the price.
Maps
We will provide you with a map of South Africa at the beginning of the tour.
Luggage transport
We have a vehicle that accompanies us on these trips, in which your luggage is transported. We will gladly transport one piece of luggage per person, collecting it before your departure and delivering it to your hotel or guestroom on arrival. Pillions can also gladly travel in the vehicle for the more difficult stretches or on request as well.
Tour guide
Our tour-guide is speaks English, Portuguese and Italian, and is registered with the relevant tour guiding authorities as well as associations, and have had comprehensive training. Our tour-guides also possess an excellent general knowledge of South Africa and have done in-depth research on the routes and sites that they will be taking you on.
Extras
Air tickets
ALL tours expressly EXCLUDE air tickets, and the tour officially commences upon your arrival at the Johannesburg International Airport (O R Tambo). Please note that South Africa has become an extremely popular holiday destination, and international flights are often fully booked months in advance, so it is highly recommended that before booking a tour, flight schedules should be checked.
Single room surcharges
Almost all South African hotels and guestrooms offer double rooms only. Single rooms are available on request for a surcharge. Should you require a single room, please take note of the surcharge listed on our 'dates/prices' channel alongside the respective tour.
Drinks
As we are all adults involved here, there are no restrictions as such whilst touring, other than that the tour guide will request that you do not drink alcohol at any stage whilst riding your bike. On the other hand, South Africa generally has a hot climate, and everyone should drink water or mineral drinks to suit his or her needs. We usually have soft drinks and mineral water available for purchase in the accompanying vehicle.
Tips/Gratuities
Tips are gladly accepted in South Africa. The rule in restaurants is usually around 10%. Furthermore, as we do have assistants at all fuel stops, it is customary to tip these assistants approximately R2.00 at your discretion.
Petrol/ Gas
Petrol in South Africa is quite affordable. However, it is important to note that petrol cannot be purchased via credit card or travelers cheques and most petrol stations have a 'strictly cash only' policy.
Personal
We've put together a highly entertaining tour for you. Sometimes however, a certain guest is interested in visiting a place not included in the tour. Personal excursions and trips over and above mentioned in the tour are not covered in the tour price, however, most tourist destinations can be offered as an excursion should you wish to make enquiries.
Travel Insurances
Although it's not pleasant to think about, it is something that we unfortunately do need to address. What would happen in case of emergency? We would like to minimise the risk by strongly recommending an insurance package tailor-made for our tours. The insurance package would include:
Protective Gear
It is highly recommended that you bring your own protective clothing such as leather jackets. The South African summer stretches from September through to April and even May, with the winter months being very mild at the coastal points, and more intense as you move in land. We recommend lightweight clothing since it can get really warm in summer. A jersey or pullover should suffice for when it does start to get a little cooler. Also remember to bring rain gear of sorts, since sudden afternoon downpours are not uncommon.
Gloves
We do rent out gloves to interested parties and have a small collection available in the shop, however, due to size variances, it is recommended that you bring your own. We strongly recommend that you wear gloves. The South African sun is particularly strong and without gloves you could have a painful sunburn within an hour.
Helmet
It is compulsory to wear a helmet in South Africa. We strongly recommend that you bring your own helmet with you to South Africa. Experience tells us that there is nothing more irritating than a journey in an ill-fitting helmet. We do offer a very small selection for rent in our shop.
